INSTRUCTIONAL STEPS
When a student reaches an unfamiliar multi-syllabic word, have them try the following steps to break the word down. It is important to follow these steps in the order listed below:
- A syllable with a long-vowel sound spelled with one vowel letter followed by one consonant and a silent e.
- VCe, CVCe, CCVCe
- Single Syllables: fuse, hide, mole, Pete, race
- Multisyllables: amuse, erase, provide, stampede, tadpole
